Time sequences—measurement of the average dynamics
The object of considerations are here the methods of measurement of the average (mean) rate of growth, that is, the measure which expresses the dynamics of the process or phenomenon by one number. The commonly applied method of unweighted geometrical mean (rg) takes into consideration only the initial and final terms of the chronological sequence. The “middle” terms have no influence on the numerical values obtained from the rg method. Therefore ways are proposed to counteract this immanent disadvantage of the rg method. The solution are the proposals of the author formulating the methods: a) taking into consideration the sum of all the terms of the chronological sequence or b) taking into consideration the products of all the terms of the chronological sequence The theory of the methods and was presented and compared with the method rg proving that the common application of rg and or rg and creates additional possibilities of entering into the analysis of the uniformity of dynamic processes.
