IN-TEXT CITATIONS

References to the literature should be included in the main text in compliance with APA Style.
Examples:

  • One author, entire work, e.g., journal article: (Jones, 2012)
  • One author, specific page, e.g., in a book or quote source: (Jones, 2012, p. 45)
  • Two authors, entire work: (Jones & Smith, 2014)
  • Two authors, specific range of pages: (Jones & Smith, 2014, pp. 45–51)
  • Three authors, first citation, e.g., journal article: (Jones, Smith & Wolff, 2016)
  • Three authors, subsequent citations, e.g., journal article: (Jones et al., 2016)
  • Three authors, first citation, specific range of pages: (Jones, Smith & Wolff, 2016, pp. 123–27)
  • Three authors, subsequent citations: (Jones et al., 2016, pp. 123–27)
  • Four and more authors, all citations: (Jones et al., 2017)
  • Two or more works with different authors: (Jones & Smith, 2014; Wolff, 2015; Pearson et al., 2017)
  • Two or more works with the same author: (Smith, 2014, 2015)
  • Two or more works with the same authors and with the same publication year: (Jones & Smith, 2014a, 2014b)
  • Organisations as authors: (UN, 2005; WHO 2006, pp. 96–99)
  • Entire websites or webpages: If you discuss any website in general in your text (and not specific content on that website or webpage), it is sufficient to give the URL the first time the source is mentioned, e.g., “The website of the American Psychological Association (http://www.apa.org/) provides information about …”
  • Web content / Web documents: In-text citations to information from the web are formatted like citations to any other type of source.

REFERENCES

The reference list should be compiled alphabetically (and chronologically, starting with the earliest
publication of a given author). References should be prepared in compliance with APA Style with DOIs.
