An attempt to verify Easterlin hypothesis

The aim of this paper is to take a closer look at contemporary applications of the Easterlin hypothesis and to verify it in the light of significant socio-demographic changes in recent years.
The analysis is based on data published by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) on fertility, population structure, marriage and Gross Domestic Product. Eighteen European countries were studied over the period 1960-2003.
