Experimental Economics
Economics is not the first scientific discipline to enter an experimental phase after periods dominated by speculative and empirical approaches. The natural sciences underwent such an evolution most recently. However, economists, too, ceased to deal with issues that concerned them only theoretically, and then are no longer content with passive observation of economic reality.
They are increasingly designing experiments through which, under controlled conditions, they test the validity of their theories under controlled conditions. The Nobel Prize in Economics in 2002 led to a rapid increase in interest in experimental economics, but its familiarity with it is still far from universal. Also, pronunciation, especially in Polish especially in the Polish language is not very abundant. The editors of Ekonomia decided to change this state of affairs and make their pages available to a new, still insufficiently popularised field of economics.
