Interdisciplinary Research on Diversified Risk. Typology and Semantics

In the paper, the author makes an attempt at new look at the present scientific research on risk. The American and European researchers are departing from the traditional definition of risk in favour of an interdisciplinary research into diversified risk. Globalization of the world economy entails mutual permeation of different spheres of life and disciplines. So, it is difficult to research into one aspect of risk without taking into account its possible effects on the remaining spheres. The presently conducted risk research leads to the conclusion that there is no possibility to formulate a single objective definition of risk. Each sphere imposes the need to take into consideration its own specificity. The second part of the paper is devoted to semantic and etymological problems. The author makes an attempt to elaborate the typology of interdisciplinary risk, while paying attention to the most important risk areas. In the presented typology, he characterizes one after another the insurance, economic, financial, production, legal, organizational, political, technological, ecological, medical, psychological, sociological, civilizational, philosophical, ethical, and force-majeure risks. In the last part of the paper, the important problem of the right of taking risk and making risk-generating decisions is presented.
